Roberto González is only the third Mexican winner of a category in the 24 Hours of Le Mans – crowned after Pedro Rodríguez and Ricardo González –, which makes him a true legend of national motorsports.
González was a key player in the growth of the Mexican fans in the early years of the millennium with the Indy-type series (CART), where he took part in the Dale Coyne Racing, Herdez Competition and PKV Racing teams. The Mexican driver began his international career in the European Formula Chrysler in 2001 and then jumped to the World Series by Nissan in 2002.
